Khaberni - Qatar announced its participation as a party in the negotiations to settle the conflict between Iran and the United States, according to what was stated by Majed Al Ansari, the official spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at a press conference today, Tuesday.
Al Ansari said: "We are a party in the negotiations aimed at easing tensions in the region and settling disputes between Washington and Tehran."
He indicated that there are expectations that the current tension may lead to a serious escalation in the region, adding: "We are trying to calm the situation."
The protests in Iran began at the end of December 2025 due to the decline in the value of the local currency, the Iranian Rial. Since January 8, following calls from Reza Pahlavi, son of the deposed Shah of Iran in 1979, protest marches in Iran escalated, and on the same day the internet was cut off in the country.
The protests in several Iranian cities turned into confrontations with the police and raised slogans against the Iranian political regime. There were also reports of casualties among security forces and protesters.
On January 12, the Iranian authorities, who accused the United States and Israel of organizing the disturbances, announced that they had managed to control the situation.
