The former mayor of AlKarak in the mercy of Allah Mourning a courageous man of whom I am proud
Author: عوض ضيف الله الملاحمة

((Abdullah: Your loss has hit masculinity fatally))

I mourn with tears of blood Dr. / Abdullah Zaal Aldmour (Abu Laith). I am shocked, losing my senses, grieving for my beloved cousin, close to my heart, my university mate in Baghdad University, and companion of a lifetime.

Your loss has hit masculinity fatally, Abdullah. Abdullah, you were among the bravest and most courageous men. You were daring, and I was proud of you.

Abdullah, you were a brave man, courageous, bold, defending your ideas and convictions. You loved your Arab identity, where your being merged into it.

Dr. Abdullah, graduated from Baghdad University as a dentist. He became the mayor of the prestigious Al-Karak municipality established in 1893 at the age of 26, and his name was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest mayor in the world. After practicing dentistry for several decades, owning a dental clinic in Al-Karak city, he studied law, obtained a bachelor's degree, and then studied Arabic literature as well. Then he left the medical profession and became a lawyer, opening an office in Amman. He excelled in the legal profession until he retired from it.

Abdullah was a nationalistic man, serious, and sharp in his convictions, truly belonging to his nation. He was firm and solid in his stances, did not change colors, did not compromise, and did not flatter, nor cared how his positions reflected on him.

He was also honest, upright, did not favor nor flatter anyone, he was as sharp and strict as a sword.

I will tell you a story about his integrity: When he was the mayor of Al-Karak, he adopted strictness in enforcing laws to elevate the city's organization. He was rigid in removing any building violations. Because the salary of the mayor in the early 1980s was symbolic. Also, he stopped practicing medicine in his clinic due to being busy, and since he became without income, relying on support from his father—who was well-off— his father decided to build him a building in Al-Merj area / Al-Karak, to ensure a steady income for him and his family. The construction of the building completed, and his father wanted the building to be distinctive, so he made the building entrance of precious Italian marble. One morning, after Abdullah returned from a long business trip, he went to see the building before heading to the municipality, and found there was a violation in the building’s entrance, so he summoned the municipality's bulldozer and requested the complete demolition of the building's entrance.

Abdullah also had a strong will and unwavering determination. An example of his willpower was that he loved smoking, but doctors advised him to quit. However, he would quit smoking from 1/12 of every year, and return to smoking on 1/4 of every year, with strict compliance.

Abdullah, your loss is immense, a great affliction, a calamity I do not know how to cope with.

Abdullah, I entrust you to He who never loses what's entrusted to Him. You have heavily burdened me, Abdullah.

Abdullah, it’s entrusted that you convey my greetings to all the loved ones who preceded you, and here you are about to join them.

From all my heart, I offer my deepest condolences to your brothers, sisters, and your noble family, praying to the Lord of the worlds to grant them patience and consolation and good condolence.

Abdullah, after your life which never rested, now is the time for your eternal rest, and your everlasting life, so enjoy being close to a Lord mighty, generous, merciful, and to a meeting, I do not know perhaps it will be soon.
And indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. May Allah improve the condolence of all my maternal uncles each and every one of them.

Abdullah, I am devastated by your death, and I do not care for what is to come of my life, as it has become worthless, and I do not seek it, (the excess of my life has become equal to its deficiency).

Farewell beloved uncle who is close to my heart,
Farewell Abu Laith (nickname), farewell the prominent fighter. Farewell the unique nationalistic struggler
Firm, convinced, and daring. Farewell, O mayor of noble Al-Karak.
