Amman Municipality Contracts 3 Private Companies for Cleaning Collecting and Transporting Waste in Amman

Khaberni  - The head of the Amman Municipality committee, Yousef Shawarbeh, announced on Sunday that the municipality has contracted with 3 private sector companies for cleaning, collecting, and transporting waste in the capital, aiming to enhance the city's cleanliness level.

Shawarbeh explained that the municipality is working to enhance cleaning efficiency in the city through partnerships with the private sector. Three companies have been signed, and the implementation program for their work will be announced next week, during a transition phase lasting 6 months, according to Al Mamlaka.

Shawarbeh confirmed that the municipality has obliged the companies to ensure that 70% of their workforce are from Amman's municipal workers, emphasizing that the rights of the municipal workers will not be compromised.

Shawarbeh said, "We have obliged the cleaning service companies to have 70% of their workforce from the municipality's national workers." He clarified that the remainder would continue as part of the municipality's staff.

He noted that the tender, lasting 10 years, will achieve savings of up to 180 million for the municipality.

He distributed the tender across 3 regions in the capital and stated that the total retirement volume in the project is 100 million dinars, according to Shawarbeh.

Shawarbeh confirmed that the infrastructure would be entirely changed regarding the mechanisms and methods of cleaning.

Greater Amman Municipality has begun operating environmental monitoring cameras designated for detecting random waste dumping violations, within the framework of supporting the national cleaning strategy and enhancing environmental compliance in the capital, with the aim of achieving a clean and sustainable urban environment. This also enhances the culture of community responsibility and reduces negative behaviors associated with improper waste disposal.

30 cameras were installed on vehicles belonging to the municipality, in addition to 11 fixed cameras in Ghamdan Park, ensuring extensive field coverage of various areas of the capital, and directly and reliably monitoring environmental violations, in preparation for taking legal actions against violators according to the enforced legislation.

Amman Municipality has called on citizens to cooperate and adhere to proper environmental behaviors, which would serve the public interest and preserve the aesthetics and environment of the capital. It confirmed that this step is a continuation of Amman Municipality's efforts to adopt smart solutions and modern technologies to serve the city and its residents, reflecting the civilized image of Amman, the jewel of the Hashemite crown.
