Egyptian Security Official Do not take your phones to the bedroom and bathroom

Khaberni - most experts agree on the necessity to avoid placing the mobile phone under the pillow or near the person during sleep, and described Major General Samir El-Masry, former Assistant to the Egyptian Minister of Interior as "the spy" and "the ticking bomb" that everyone carries, emphasizing that it represents the biggest threat to global national security, not just in Egypt.

In televised statements Thursday evening, El-Masry warned against complete surrender to smartphones, noting that citizens believe they own the world through this device, while in reality, it is the world that owns them.

He explained that phones transmit all the details of private life, to the extent that some people post their movement schedules and personal information, making them easy targets.

The former Assistant Minister of Interior advised every Egyptian family to place a medical sticker on the front camera of the phone, pointing out that suspicious links can allow hackers to operate the cameras and record what happens inside homes without the owners' knowledge, asking, "Why do we bring phones to the bedroom and bathrooms? Respect the privacy of your homes, as the phone can turn into a spy that records the slightest details of your life."

He criticized the phenomenon of "citizen journalism," where everyone with a phone considers themselves a journalist, publishing whatever they want without regard for editorial rules or national security controls, emphasizing the need for societal awareness to govern what is published and circulated on social media, especially with enemies lurking around the state.

He called for handling mobile phone addiction with the same mechanisms used for drug addiction, revealing that some countries, such as the United States, have already begun establishing specialized hospitals for treating this addiction, commenting, "Try taking the phone from the hand of a child aged 5 years for an hour, and you will discover the magnitude of the disaster we are living in."

He provided a security and social prescription to control this danger, including setting specific hours for children's phone use, parental supervision of everything published on their children's pages and websites they visit, in addition to the need for technical control through passwords and code numbers, and the necessity of complete awareness on how to charge the phone away from the head during sleep and covering the cameras.

He assured that the Egyptian security is vigilant, and the security forces are capable of tracking anyone attempting to tamper with national security or exploit technology to harm the nation, saying, "Do not think you are immune behind your phone.. You will be brought and held accountable for every act you commit."
