Syrian Army Removes Mines from Vehicles Rigged by QSD in Aleppo

Khaberni - A military source said that the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) rigged vehicles and left them in the streets of Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, confirming that the Syrian Army is working on dismantling them, according to what was reported by the Syrian News Agency (SANA).

The Syrian Ministry of Health stated that militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party turned Yasin Hospital in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo into a military post.

The Syrian Army announced on Saturday morning the completion of a security operation in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo, where Kurdish fighters are stationed.

This comes days after violent clashes between Kurdish and government forces, which erupted on Tuesday in the Kurdish neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh in the city of Aleppo, killing 21 people. Both parties exchanged accusations of igniting the clashes.

The Syrian Army announced on Saturday morning "the completion of a thorough sweep of Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo," in an operation launched on Friday night, urging civilians to "stay in their homes and not to go out."

These developments occur against the backdrop of stalling negotiations between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) since signing an agreement in March that stipulated the integration of the Kurdish autonomous administration institutions within the framework of the Syrian state.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense declared early Friday a ceasefire in the two neighborhoods, giving the Kurdish fighters a deadline to evacuate them in preparation for their transfer to areas of the Kurdish autonomous administration in northeastern Syria.

However, the fighters refused and confirmed that they will continue to "defend" their areas. The Kurdish forces stated, "The call from the temporary government of Damascus to our people and our security forces is a call for surrender, but our people in these neighborhoods are determined to stay in their neighborhoods and defend them."
