The Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Rai" reported that the Supreme Committee for Nationality Investigation continues its research in the nationality files presented before it, which includes about 450 names among forgers and dual nationals and their dependents.
The newspaper added that "the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Nationality Investigation continues its efforts in studying and researching the nationality files presented before it, and making the necessary decisions regarding them. In its meeting chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, the committee decided to withdraw and forfeit Kuwaiti nationality from a number of cases in preparation for presenting them to the Cabinet, including the loss of Kuwaiti nationality (due to duality) and the withdrawal of the Kuwaiti nationality certificate (due to fraud and forgery)."
It explained that "the files presented before the committee in its meeting include about 450 names among forgers, dual nationals and their dependents," while sources confirmed that "the competent authorities continue to conduct a comprehensive review of all files that were recorded with imperfections and suspicions in the past period and scrutinizing the cases of sham renunciation of Kuwaiti nationality."
In the context of its efforts, the Nationality Investigation Department succeeded in uncovering "highly complex forgery cases that extended over more than five decades, involving forgers who registered hundreds of dependents on their falsified files."
Among the cases that the committee reviewed yesterday, was the discovery of "a network of three Gulf brothers, each of whom impersonated a different Kuwaiti identity in an organized forgery operation that lasted more than 50 years and resulted in the registration of 264 people, through to the case of another three Gulf brothers whose forgery was exposed through one of their sisters impersonating her brother's wife to register her children from her Gulf husband, reaching to the case of a Syrian man who impersonated the nationality since 1985 and his forgery was discovered after his Syrian daughter demanded proof of her lineage to him from Beirut."
The newspaper "Al-Rai" reported from sources that "these cases highlight the pivotal role of the comprehensive review conducted by the Nationality Investigation Department of all suspicious files, and the close cooperation between the various competent authorities, in the framework of purifying and filtering the file of national identity and Kuwaiti nationality from any imperfections."
