Khaberni - The Shorouk Misdemeanor Court in Egypt and Badr sentenced a guardian to one year in prison and fined her 5,000 Egyptian pounds, after convicting her of manslaughter in the incident of running over student Jana.
The Shorouk and Badr Misdemeanor Court in Egypt, on Thursday, punished a housewife, who is a guardian, accused of running over student Jana in front of a school in the Shorouk area, with imprisonment for one year and a fine of 5,000 Egyptian pounds, after convicting her of manslaughter.
Previously, the judge in charge of remand hearings at the competent Misdemeanor Court decided to renew the detention of the woman accused of causing the death of the student Jana after she left school in the Shorouk area, for 15 days pending investigation, as part of the ongoing examination and investigation procedures into the incident's circumstances.
Before that, the investigative authorities had issued a decision to detain the accused for four days pending investigations, after the initial investigations confirmed her involvement in the incident of running over student Jana with her car as the latter was leaving school.
The details of the accident go back to the Shorouk police department receiving a notification from one of the hospitals reporting the arrival of a student with severe injuries due to a running over accident, however, she succumbed to her injuries while attempts were made to resuscitate her inside the hospital.
Immediately, a security force moved to the scene of the accident, where the examination revealed that the student was on her way home after the school day ended when she was hit by a speeding car driven by one of the parents.
The security forces were able to apprehend the woman accused in the incident, and the car used in the accident was seized, in preparation for completing the legal procedures and presenting them to the competent investigative authorities, which started the investigations leading to the final verdict in the case.
