Khaberni - Ayman Abu Haniyeh, head of the parliamentary energy committee reported that after reviewing the complaints related to the electricity bills, it appeared that there were some increases in the bills for the month of December, and accordingly, the parliamentary energy committee decided to form a committee to investigate the reasons behind the rise in these bills' costs.
Abu Haniyeh pointed out that the change in the consumption pattern among citizens through the use of electric cars is one of the reasons for the rise in electricity bills, which requires a revision of the electricity tariff slabs.
He added that the Energy and Mineral Regulatory Commission will provide the parliamentary energy committee with a new study on the household consumption rate in Jordan for the years 2024-2025 based on which the supported slabs will be reconsidered to achieve justice for citizens, affirming the government’s responsiveness and cooperation with the parliamentary energy committee.
