Under American Sponsorship Israel and Syria Agree to Establish Security Coordination Mechanism

Khaberni - Israel and Syria have agreed to establish a communications cell to coordinate matters, including the exchange of intelligence information and the reduction of military escalation.

This was stated in a joint statement with the United States prepared by the US Department of State on Tuesday.

The US Department of State said that both parties decided to create a joint mechanism for integration, adding that Washington emphasizes positive steps and confirms its commitment to supporting the implementation of the understandings reached between Israeli and Syrian officials at the meeting in Paris.

The US Department of State continued in its statement that the Syrian government and Israel will form a joint group under US supervision to share intelligence information, with the aim of containing military escalation on the ground.

The statement issued after the Paris talks states that Syria and Israel commit to arrangements that ensure permanent security and stability for both countries.

In the meantime, Israel confirmed that it held security talks with Syria in Paris under the auspices of the United States, aiming to enhance regional stability and economic cooperation.

A statement from the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reported that the dialogue took place within the framework of President Donald Trump's vision to move forward with peace in the Middle East, clarifying that Israel emphasized during the talks the importance of ensuring the security of its citizens and avoiding threats along its borders.

The statement added that Israel confirmed its commitment to enhancing regional stability and security, in addition to the need for progress in economic cooperation for the benefit of both countries.

The statement from Netanyahu's office said:

It was agreed to continue the dialogue to enhance common goals and maintain border security in Syria.

Israel reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing stability and security in the region, and the necessity of enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.

Syria seeks the withdrawal of Israeli forces from territories it controlled after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, and it wants a joint security agreement that guarantees its sovereignty.

Israel linked any agreement to conditions that ensure its security interests, including disarmament in parts of southwest Syria.
