Khaberni - In a tragic incident that shook the entire Qena Governorate, security forces arrested a man in his forties, accused of killing his elderly father, aged 72, and injuring his mother (in her sixties) with multiple stab wounds using a knife, inside their home in the village of Qanawiya, belonging to the Naj Hammadi center in the north of the governorate.

Son kills father in Qena

The incident began in the early hours of dawn today (Tuesday), when the Qena Security Directorate's operations room received a report about a murder and injury within a family home in the village. Security forces immediately moved to the scene, where they found the elderly man's body in a pool of blood, and his mother severely injured from stabs with a sharp object (kitchen knife).

Psychological disorders

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect is the victims' son, unmarried and has been suffering from severe psychological disorders for many years. Security sources reported that the crime occurred without any apparent financial or family disagreements, suggesting that a psychological episode was the main motive behind the brutal assault.

Arrest of the suspect

Security forces quickly apprehended the suspect, along with the weapon used in the crime (knife), and the father's body was transferred to the morgue at Naj Hammadi General Hospital for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, while the injured mother was taken to the same hospital for necessary treatment, with their condition under medical observation.

A report was filed about the incident, and the Public Prosecution took over the investigations, instructing the detective unit to complete further inquiries to uncover all circumstances of the incident, and presenting the suspect for forensic evaluation of his mental state.
