Aqaba Governorate Council 85 Completion of Development and Service Plans by 2025

Khaberni  - During 2025, the Aqaba Governorate Council achieved tangible results in implementing its development and service plans, with 85 percent of the total allocations reached, in a comprehensive development vision focused on prioritizing the citizens.

Musa Al-Dardsawi, the head of the interim committee of the council, stated that these achievements were the fruit of collaborative efforts by the previous council members, who contributed to setting development priorities. He added that the current interim committee continued to efficiently pursue project execution to meet the needs of citizens across the governorate.

He explained that in the education sector, which is a top priority, the construction of Al-Quweira and the Tenth West schools was completed, additional classrooms were added in Rahmah Secondary School, and maintenance and equipment upgrades were carried out in schools in Wadi Araba and Al-Quraigira, ensuring an appropriate educational environment and reducing overcrowding.

In the health and social services sector, the council paid special attention through the maintenance of health centers, paving courtyards, and implementing housing projects for modest families in Aqaba and the villages of Wadi Diseh Basin, supporting social empowerment and improving living standards.

Regarding the youth and sports sector, Al-Dardsawi mentioned that it received special attention, with quality projects being implemented, including the construction of stands for sports fields at Al-Quraigira Youth Center, and the rehabilitation of Prince Hamzah Sport City at a cost of 750,000 Dinars to provide a safe and encouraging environment for youth and sports activities.

He noted that the achievements also included sectors such as agriculture, industry, water, and infrastructure, from the establishment of a genetic complex for palm species, industrial supply warehouses, and water tanks and replacing the desalination system, to road maintenance and lighting entrances, which enhance services, improve quality of life for citizens, and contribute to increased safety and enhancement of the urban landscape.

He affirmed that the year 2026 would be an extension of this approach, where prominent projects like the cultural center and the civil status building would be worked on, to enhance cultural and social services and solidify sustainable development in various areas of the governorate. The upcoming projects will also include the construction of a number of schools in the Qasabah area and villages of Aqaba and establishing a pharmaceutical warehouse, which will contribute to the development of the educational and health infrastructure and support the pathway of sustainable development in the Aqaba Governorate.
