Khaberni - Within the continuous effort of the Arab University of Amman to enhance international scientific cooperation and achieve the motto "Leave No One Behind", the Faculty of Arts and Sciences hosted a research delegation from (UKM) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia aiming to study ways to support and empower Syrian refugees and overcome the living and educational challenges they face.
The events began with a field visit to Mafraq Governorate where the research team held a dialogue session (Focus Group) managed by Professor Farhan Al-Hasban at the headquarters of Al-Asayil Association for Empowerment and Cultural Training, with the participation of (30) young men and women from the Syrian refugees, while Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Fawareh facilitated the communication and the instant translation for the attendees, which helped in providing an environment characterized by transparency and constructive knowledge exchange. The participants praised the high level of social and cultural integration with the Jordanian community, reflecting deeply rooted values of fraternity and cohesion. The results also focused on the youth's aspirations for a promising academic and professional future, emphasizing the importance of enhancing economic support and providing specialized technical and vocational training programs that meet labor market needs and contribute to their autonomy.
The delegation led by Professor Zarina Osman visited the facilities of the Arab University of Amman, on an exploratory tour aimed at familiarizing with the university's academic potential and infrastructure, and during the visit, the delegation met with Professor Dr. Hossam Al-Hamd, Vice President of the University for Planning and Quality Assurance, where they discussed the prospects of academic cooperation and exchange of expertise. The delegation was accompanied in its tour by Professor Dr. Ahmad Al-Khawaldeh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Ahmad Al-Twalbeh, Vice Dean of the Faculty, under the supervision and organization of the Jordanian research team which included Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Fawareh, Professor Tareq Al-Warikat, and Professor Farhan Al-Hasban, faculty members at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the university.
At the end of the visit, the Malaysian team expressed their deep admiration for the level of awareness shown by the young participants, appreciating the excellent organization by Al-Asayil Association and the pioneering role of the Arab University of Amman, where both sides agreed that these outcomes would lay the foundation for drawing a research roadmap that serves refugee issues in a scientific and practical manner.
It is worth mentioning that the motto is considered a pivotal principle for the Sustainable Development Plan for 2030, and this slogan reflects the commitment of all United Nations member states to eradicate poverty in all its forms, combat discrimination and exclusion, and reduce barriers that prevent people from full participation in economic and social life, ensuring a more just and inclusive world.
