Khaberni - Petra University signed a memorandum of understanding for academic, cultural, and scientific cooperation with Al Maaref University in the Republic of Iraq, aiming to enhance the scientific partnership and develop areas of research and higher education between the two parties, during an official visit by a delegation from Al Maaref University to the university campus.
The memorandum of understanding was signed on behalf of Petra University by its President, Prof. Dr. Rami Abdul Rahim, while it was signed on behalf of Al Maaref University by its President, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Razzaq Al-Saadi, in the presence of several members of the academic and administrative bodies from both universities.
The memorandum aims to establish a general framework for joint cooperation in various academic and scientific fields, including the exchange of information, curricula, and scientific research, organizing joint academic activities and training workshops for faculty members and students, in addition to encouraging joint scientific supervision and the exchange of professors and researchers for conducting research and delivering specialized lectures.
The cooperation areas also include training undergraduate and graduate students, exchanging experiences in the fields of quality assurance and academic accreditation, jointly working to enhance the presence of both universities in international rankings, as well as exchanging books, scientific documents, and research theses.
Both parties emphasized the importance of developing sustainable academic cooperation that contributes to the exchange of scientific experiences and enhances research and innovation opportunities, serving the higher education journey in the two fraternal countries.
The meeting discussed mechanisms for implementing the memorandum of understanding through forming a joint committee to monitor future programs and activities, in addition to discussing opportunities for cooperation in research and training projects and academic exchanges.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Petra University, Prof. Dr. Miyas Al Rimawi, the President’s Assistant for Agreements and International Cooperation Dr. Kenza Mansour, the Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Faisal Abu Al-Rub, the Director of Quality Assurance, Planning and Measurement Unit Dr. Ahmad Al Qasim, the Director of External Funding and Technology Transfer Office Dr. Ali Al Maqousi, the Director of Public and International Relations Mr. Alaa Arabiyat, and from the Department of Public and International Relations Miss Rawan Al Taweel.
