The Alexandria Criminal Court in Egypt has scheduled January 24th as the beginning of the trial of Dina Alaa's husband, a judo player at the Smouha Club, following charges of premeditated murder after shooting her three times, leading to her death.
The medical report from the Abbassia Hospital for Mental Health confirmed the mental and psychological fitness of the accused, affirming his full awareness and understanding at the time of committing the crime in question.
The report followed the public prosecutor’s decision to refer the case files of the murder of Dina Alaa, a judo player at the Smouha Club in Alexandria, to the International Cooperation Office at the Public Prosecutor's office, to take legal proceedings related to admitting the accused to the psychiatric and neurological diseases hospital, to determine the integrity of his mental faculties and his criminal responsibility at the time of the incident.
The incident details trace back to the husband firing gunshots at his wife, resulting in her immediate death, before he shot himself. He was then transferred to a hospital and placed in intensive care under necessary supervision. After his health improved, the public prosecutor's office received an official notification stating his release from intensive care and his ability to make statements, leading to his summoning and the commencement of investigation by relevant authorities.
