Food and Drug Administration Banning Cosmetic Promotion without Prior Approval

Khaberni  - The Food and Drug Administration has reaffirmed its commitment to banning the advertising, promotion, and marketing of any cosmetic or pharmaceutical cosmetic product without prior written approval from the institution, based on the governing regulations and instructions and under the threat of appropriate action.

The institution also confirmed in a circular addressed to relevant entities on Sunday, the necessity of complying with Article number (5) (z) of the regulations governing the handling of cosmetic and pharmaceutical cosmetic products for the year 2016 and its amendments, which state that no cosmetic product is to be circulated if it carries explicit medical claims on either the external or internal packaging or in the internal leaflets or marketing publications.

As part of its ongoing regulatory role and its monitoring and tracking of advertisements circulated through social media platforms, the institution calls for necessary actions against any entity promoting cosmetic and pharmaceutical cosmetic products without approval and with misleading medical claims.
