Trump's statement came in response to a question from reporters as he arrived with his wife Melania Trump at the New Year's Eve party, where he paused for a moment before saying with a smile, "Yes, I have a resolution for the new year... peace, peace on Earth," echoing the same wish he had repeated at the start of his second term, amid a period marked by escalating international tensions and conflicts.
Trump celebrated New Year's Eve alongside his allies and supporters at a luxurious party attended by prominent figures from his supporting current, in an annual tradition he has maintained since the late 1990s.
U.S. President appeared wearing a traditional black suit, while Melania attracted attention with a shiny silver dress, which she coordinated with elegant silver shoes, as they walked together on the black carpet at the entrance of the party amid camera flashes.
During the evening, Trump played the role of an auction host, personally overseeing the sale of an artwork depicting Jesus Christ, painted live in front of the attendees by artist Vanessa Horabuena.
The auction ended with the painting being sold for about $2.75 thousand, and the proceeds designated for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, as well as a local police department.
The auction was filled with humorous moments as Trump joked with the audience about the high bids and offered to sign the painting if its price rose, amid applause and laughter from the attendees, who included well-known political and media figures alongside members of the Trump family.
Trump's talk of peace comes at a time when the international arena is experiencing escalations on several fronts, prompting him over the past months to promote himself as a man of peace, claiming that he had contributed to ending several international conflicts and expressing his belief that his efforts deserved global recognition.
With the entry of the year 2026, Trump directed his wish towards a year of peace as the first message for the new year, before taking his wife's hand and entering the celebration hall, amidst musical ambiance and fireworks lighting up the sky over Palm Beach to mark the beginning of a new year.
