Jordan Chemical Industries Sector Exports Reach 112 Countries

Khaberni -  A report by the Jordan Chamber of Industry reveals that exports from the chemical and cosmetics industries sector reach markets in 112 countries around the world.
The report enumerates the major countries that hold the largest share of the sector's exports, led by India with 28 percent, Iraq with 17 percent, Saudi Arabia with 7 percent, China with 7 percent, and the United States and Palestine each with 5 percent.
The report, prepared by the Chamber's Studies and Policies Department, notes that the sector's exports amounted to 1.448 billion dinars in the first 9 months of last year, compared to 1.329 billion dinars for the same period of 2024, showing a growth of 9 percent.
The report also mentions that the growth rate of exports from the chemical and cosmetics industries sector reached 76 percent over the last five years, reflecting its status as one of the fastest-growing industrial sectors.
The report points out that the sector covers, on average, more than 75 percent of local market needs, particularly for products such as fertilizers, hand washing agents, paints, detergents, washing powders, and shampoo, while 70 percent of sales from industrial companies operating within it are directed towards the local market.
According to the report, the sector still possesses unexploited export opportunities valued at approximately 2.2 billion dollars, distributed across industries such as potassium chloride as fertilizer, polyphosphate acids, di-aluminum phosphate, and chemical fertilizers with nitrogen.
The sector has high production capacities and added value, with an annual production volume within it reaching 4 billion dinars, representing 25 percent of the total production of the manufacturing industries, and directly and indirectly contributing 5.2 percent to the gross domestic product.
The report indicates that the number of facilities operating within the chemical and cosmetics industries sector reaches 740 facilities spread across various regions of the Kingdom, with a registered capital of 784 million dinars, employing approximately 17,000 workers.
The sector includes several sub-sectors such as inorganic chemicals, detergents and disinfectants, organic chemicals, fertilizers, petrochemicals, dyes and paints, agricultural chemical pesticides, perfumes and cosmetics, and Dead Sea products.
The report highlights that the sector is a fundamental pivot for the industry, supplying the agriculture, construction, and plastics sectors with raw materials and converting phosphate and potash into high value-added final products such as fertilizers; thus enhancing the added value to the national economy.
