Khaberni - Independence Hospital in the Jordanian capital Amman has successfully concluded the surgical operations phase of the electronic cochlear implant project for Palestinian children, in addition to a number of patients from the youth and elderly categories, within a humanitarian project implemented with a generous grant from the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works, and with the participation of the Saudi voluntary medical team, and in operational partnership with Independence Hospital.
This phase included performing cochlear implant surgeries for a number of children suffering from sensorineural hearing loss, alongside several patients from the youth and elderly categories suffering from the same conditions. The surgeries were performed according to the highest global medical standards, using the latest surgical technologies, and under the supervision of a group of specialized doctors from Saudi Arabia and Jordan, with detailed and ongoing monitoring by the medical and nursing staff at Independence Hospital.
Those in charge of the project confirmed that all operations were successful and that the cases are currently undergoing the medical follow-up and auditory rehabilitation phase. This prepares them for activating the cochlear devices and starting the auditory and speech rehabilitation programs, contributing to the gradual integration of beneficiaries into their social and educational environments and significantly improving their quality of life.
In the context of adhering to the highest medical safety standards and providing advanced healthcare that considers the specificity of high-risk cases, the anesthesia department at Independence Hospital had a noticeably advanced and prominent medical presence, through adopting the latest regional anesthesia techniques using ultrasound-guided devices.
This advanced procedure enabled the medical team to precisely anesthetize sensory nerves for some cases without resorting to general anesthesia, which contributed to reducing potential risks, lowering complication rates, speeding up post-surgery awakening, and improving clinical outcomes, especially for patients from sensitive groups.
This achievement reflects the high level of expertise and proficiency of the anesthesia staff at Independence Hospital, and the readiness of the hospital to employ the latest global medical practices to ensure the utmost safety and quality of healthcare provided to patients.
This humanitarian project embodies the continuous commitment of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works to support children and the most needy groups. It also reflects the advanced medical readiness of Independence Hospital, which provided a comprehensive treatment environment and qualified staff that played a pivotal role in the successful implementation of this distinctive humanitarian project.
The electronic cochlear implant project is a pivotal step in the journey to restore hearing for children, youth, and the elderly beneficiaries, opening new horizons for them to communicate, learn, and build a better future, in a commendable model of Arab integration and humanitarian cooperation in the health sector.
