Jordanian Armed Forces The Arab Army in 2025 National Shield Developmental and Humanitarian Pillar
الكاتب: العميد الركن مصطفى الحياري

The year 2025 formed a pivotal station in the course of the Jordanian Armed Forces – The Arab Army, where the image of the modern army was embodied as a comprehensive force combining military deterrence, humanitarian effectiveness, and technical empowerment. In a year where security challenges intertwined with humanitarian imperatives, the Arab Army emerged as a national icon reflecting the Jordanian state’s capacity to manage security, protect the people, and maintain stability in a complex regional environment.

Operationally, the year 2025 witnessed a qualitative shift in border security management, through enhancing monitoring and tracking systems, developing rules of engagement, and integrating efforts between the ground forces and the Royal Air Force. This approach resulted in thwarting (418) infiltration and smuggling attempts, seizing (18,938,266) drug pills, (168) weapons, and shooting down (89) drones, reflecting the effectiveness of the Jordanian proactive deterrence model. This approach was crowned in December by executing precise airstrikes within Syrian territory targeting factories and warehouses used by smugglers, sending a firm message that Jordan's security is a red line that cannot be compromised.

In the context of readiness enhancement, the Armed Forces carried out a series of mobilization exercises and joint training with brotherly and friendly armies, serving as a practical lab to test readiness and update combat concepts. The Warrior Contest and other qualitative activities also reflected the image of the disciplined Jordanian soldier, capable of enduring in the most challenging conditions.

Internationally, Jordan strengthened its presence by hosting the C8 Cybersecurity and Defense Technology Conference and Exhibition, affirming its position as a regional hub in this field. Concurrently, the Armed Forces continued the path of military and technological modernization, recognizing that future battles are managed as much by knowledge as by force, thereby introducing advanced systems in command and control, thermal and visual monitoring, short and medium-range air defense, developing infantry weapons and anti-armor, and expanding the use of drones. The year also saw the integration of artificial intelligence technologies into command systems and the introduction of specialized fields in military colleges including cybersecurity and drone technology and control.

Nationally, the year 2025 marked a historic return to military service after nearly three decades, in an initiative announced by His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince. The Armed Forces played a central role in executing the program, serving as a school for discipline and character building, through comprehensive training that combines military preparation with intellectual and knowledge qualifications, enhancing the youth's readiness to serve the nation and respond to emergencies.

Humanely, the humanitarian presence of the Armed Forces peaked, especially towards the Palestinian brethren, through the ongoing operation of Jordanian field hospitals in Gaza and the West Bank, and installing (743) artificial limbs for the wounded as part of the "Restoring Hope" initiative, alongside conducting (564) air drops, and establishing a broad air and ground aid bridge, in one of the most prominent contemporary humanitarian support operations.

Domestically, the Royal Medical Services continued their role as a pillar of national health security, introducing advanced medical technologies and opening new facilities, while the directorates of military education, culture, and training enabled Jordanians educationally and culturally. The military institutional establishment and its (105) markets located across the kingdom's provinces were present to enhance food security and provide basic goods to citizens at affordable prices.

Furthermore, the year 2025 marked a landmark in empowering women within the Armed Forces, where their professional presence in leadership, planning, medical services, military media, and peacekeeping operations was entrenched, reflecting as an institutional choice the maturity of the army in leveraging human capital.

Media-wise, the year 2025 saw a qualitative leap with the opening of the Military Documentation Center and the Armed Forces studio, enhancing the protection of national memory and transforming military media into an effective tool in managing awareness and countering misinformation. Additionally, the initiative of raising the Jordanian flag on the highest mountain peak in the kingdom was a symbolic scene deeply entrenched in the national consciousness.

In conclusion, the harvest of the year 2025 confirms that the Jordanian Armed Forces – The Arab Army – have become a comprehensive strategic system, balancing between deterrence and humanity, and technology and identity, based on the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, to remain the solid pillar of Jordan and the guardian of its national and regional mission.
