Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced today, Tuesday, the arrest of the head of one of the military security branches, during the rule of the previous regime in Tartous Governorate.
The head of internal security in Tartous Governorate, Colonel Abdel Aal Mohamed Abdel Aal, said in a statement issued by the Syrian interior: "The counter-terrorism units in Tartous Governorate carried out a special security operation, resulting in the arrest of the criminal Adib Ali Suleiman, who previously held the presidency of Branch 220 affiliated to military security, known as Sa'sa Branch, during the rule of the deposed regime".
Abdel Aal added that "preliminary investigations indicated that the criminal played direct roles in managing and coordinating security and military activities, including facilitating the entry of foreign armed groups into Syrian territory, among them elements belonging to foreign militias and Hezbollah militia, and redistributing them in areas of southern Syria, especially Quneitra Governorate."
According to the statement, "investigations indicate his involvement in organized smuggling networks, in coordination with leaders from the Hezbollah militia, which included introducing drugs through illegal crossings, aimed at smuggling them out of the country, in addition to supervising extensive recruitment operations within auxiliary armed militias for the forces of the deposed regime, and his direct connections with external entities."
The "criminal was referred to the competent court for further investigations and to take the necessary legal actions against him," according to the Syrian Interior Ministry."
