Khaberni -   The president and members of the management board of the Amman Chamber of Commerce discussed with the Trade Consul at the Malaysian Embassy residing in Jeddah, Yazrin Mahlant, new economic cooperation routes between Jordan and Malaysia.
During the meeting held at the Amman Commerce headquarters today, Tuesday, they emphasized the need to move beyond the traditional pattern of trade exchange between the Kingdom and Malaysia towards practical partnerships based on exchanging expertise and building sustainable business networks between the business communities in the two friendly countries.
‎ It was agreed to hold a virtual meeting next month between Amman Commerce and its counterpart in Kuala Lumpur, coordinated with both the Jordanian and Malaysian Embassies and related entities, aiming to enhance institutional communication and pave the way for broader economic partnerships in the coming phase.
‎ Chamber president Ayn Khalil al-Haj Tawfiq stressed the importance of boosting Malaysian investments in Jordan in a compelling and safe investment environment supported by modern investment laws and various incentives and benefits, in addition to the promising opportunities provided by the economic modernization vision.
Al-Haj Tawfiq emphasized the interest of His Majesty King Abdullah II in deepening and developing economic relations with Asian countries, which was reflected through two royal visits to South Asian countries, opening broader prospects for trade and investment cooperation and helping build quality partnerships between the private sectors of both countries.
He pointed out that Jordan's strategic location and free trade agreements with the United States, Canada, and the European Union allow Malaysian investors to establish production projects in the Kingdom and re-export their products to global markets at preferential prices.
‎During the meeting attended by Vice Presidents of the Chamber Nabil Al-Khatib and Bahjat Hamdan, and board member Falah Al-Saghir, the President called for the establishment of a Jordanian-Malaysian business council to coordinate efforts of the business community and enhance joint projects and investments within a sustainable institutional framework that facilitates practical partnerships.
Al-Haj Tawfiq emphasized the importance of intensifying reciprocal visits of delegations and trade missions to explore new markets and promote exportable goods, affirming Amman Chamber of Commerce's readiness to cooperate and maintain continuous communication with the Malaysian side to serve the interests of the trade sector and expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
‎On his part, Mahlant emphasized the necessity of developing the level of economic cooperation between Jordan and Malaysia, noting that the relations between the two countries are based on mutual trust and respect, and have great potential for enhancing deeper and more sustainable partnerships.
‎He confirmed his country's keenness to enhance coordination, exchange expertise, and trade missions with the Kingdom, which contributes to expanding the investment base and opening new prospects for joint cooperation in various economic sectors.
‎ Board members present confirmed that the Kingdom is a secure and stable gateway for goods and services and a suitable center for managing trade operations and supply chains in the region.
‎They highlighted the importance of the Aqaba Port as a key hub for regional maritime trade, supported by advanced infrastructure and modern logistical services and special economic zones that facilitate shipping, customs clearance, and transportation operations, pointing to the importance of educational and religious tourism between the countries.
They also confirmed the presence of about two thousand Malaysian students continuing their studies at Jordanian universities, in addition to specialized programs in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, and the "Umrah Plus" program, which integrates religious, tourist, and educational dimensions, contributing to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between Jordan and Malaysia.
It is noted that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries amounted to about 122 million Jordanian dinars during the first nine months of this year
