Citizens in Al-Karak governorate in southern Jordan have demanded the relevant authorities to declare a state of emergency, due to the ongoing effects of the weather depression that has been impacting the region for several days, resulting in damage to infrastructure and properties.
The citizens emphasized that the heavy rains have led to the collapse of several main and side roads leading to different areas within the governorate, in addition to landslides that have isolated some residential communities.
The water level has also risen in a number of streets and residential neighborhoods, causing water to enter some homes, amid warnings of the continuation of adverse weather conditions in the coming hours.
The local authorities, including the Greater Karak Municipality, continue to deal with the aftermath of the weather conditions, amid calls to intensify emergency efforts and secure the affected areas to ensure the safety of the citizens.
