Khaberni - The Rusaifa Misdemeanor Court convicted the defendant in absentia for violating the provisions of Article (4/c) of the Human Body Organ Utilization Law, and in accordance with the same Article, sentenced him to one year of imprisonment and court fees.
This judgment came after the court confirmed that the defendant had posted on Facebook his intention to sell his kidney for a cash amount
The post stated the following: (I am a retired 50-year-old in very good health.. No job.. I am offering my kidney for sale for (25) thousand dinars to pay off my outstanding debts...).
The Electronic Crimes Unit tracked the post until they reached the defendant, who was then apprehended and underwent the necessary medical examinations to determine whether he had proceeded with the offer or not. It was revealed that his body was healthy with no injuries, and that the kidney was healthy and functioning normally.
