US President "Donald Trump" said early Saturday that the priorities of the meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be about the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, while he indicated that he would not recognize the separatist region of "Somaliland" at the moment, following Israel's declaration recognizing it as an independent state.
Netanyahu visits the United States on Monday, where he is scheduled to meet the US president in Miami to discuss several points regarding the Gaza agreement, including the timing of the start of the second phase of the Israeli withdrawal from the strip, the nature of the formation of the international force, and the disarmament of Hamas, according to the website "Axios".
In mid-October, Trump announced that he had reached an agreement to cease fire in Gaza, but there is a deadlock in the course of negotiations regarding the next phase of the agreement, and arrangements for the "next day" in the region.
Trump added in a conversation with the "New York Post" that the recognition of the Somaliland region requires "study" through consultation with Israel regarding the decision, wondering: "Does anyone know what the Somaliland region is?".
Trump seemed uninterested in the offer from the separatist Somaliland region to allocate land for a US naval base near the entrance to the Red Sea, but he said, "Everything is under study. We will study this offer. I am studying many things and always make correct decisions", according to the newspaper.
General Dagfinn Anderson, commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), visited Somaliland last month, which has raised the separatist region's hopes of reaching an agreement with the United States, according to the "New York Post".
