World Health Organization 800000 deaths annually in Europe due to alcohol

Khaberni  - The World Health Organization confirmed that Europe still witnesses the highest rates of alcohol consumption, with nearly 800,000 people dying annually due to alcohol use.

The World Health Organization stated in a statement that "alcohol is a major cause of preventable injuries globally and a significant contributor to deaths in Europe, which has the highest rates of alcohol consumption in the world."

It pointed out that "alcohol consumption in Europe causes about 800,000 deaths annually, meaning one in every eleven people dies from alcohol use."

The organization explained that "alcohol is a toxic substance that not only causes seven types of cancer but also other non-communicable diseases, it also weakens judgment and self-control, slows reaction times, reduces coordination, and encourages risky behavior."

It also confirmed that "alcohol addiction poses a particular risk to young people, causing disability and premature death."

The World Health Organization recommended that countries implement measures to reduce alcohol consumption, such as increasing taxes and prices on alcoholic beverages, restricting their availability by setting limits on hours, days, and places of sale, banning or restricting advertising, tightening laws against driving under the influence of alcohol, and other measures.
