Germany Examines Black Box of Libyan Chief of Staffs Aircraft

Khaberni - The Libyan Ministry of Interior in the Tripoli government announced that the black box from the aircraft that crashed in Turkey, which resulted in the killing of the Libyan army chief of staff and his companions, will be transferred to Germany to ensure a "precise technical evaluation".

The aircraft’s black box includes the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder that documents the conversations inside the cockpit. In Germany, the Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) in Braunschweig typically handles the analysis of these devices.

The ministry in Tripoli explained that the Turkish Public Prosecutor had committed to supporting the investigations and providing all documents and camera recordings. The Criminal Police in Tripoli also sent DNA samples from the victims' relatives to the Turkish authorities to confirm their identities.

The private plane had taken off last Tuesday from Ankara heading towards Libya, and crashed about 80 kilometers south of the Turkish capital, killing all eight individuals aboard, including Mohammed al-Haddad, the chief of staff of the Libyan army affiliated with the Tripoli government, who was on an official visit to Turkey. Hundreds from rescue teams participated in the search operations at the crash site.

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan extended his condolences to the Prime Minister of the Tripoli government, Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh.
