It was previously announced that 3 people were killed and 5 others were injured on Friday due to an explosion that occurred inside the Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib mosque in Wadi al-Dhahab area in Homs.
The Syrian news agency SANA reported that the nature of the explosion is being investigated.
The Syrian security forces imposed a security cordon around the area and are investigating the matter.
Syrian officials told Reuters that the explosion might have been caused by a suicide bombing or explosives placed there.
