Khaberni - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed on Thursday that the military movements in the governorates of Hadramaut and Al Mahrah in Yemen, carried out recently by the Southern Transitional Council, occurred unilaterally without the approval of the Presidential Leadership Council or coordination with the coalition leadership. This led to unjustified escalation, harming the interests of the Yemeni people across various segments, the southern cause, and the efforts of the coalition.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement relayed by the Saudi Press Agency "SPA" on Thursday morning, "The Kingdom has focused during the recent period on unity, and exerted all efforts to reach peaceful solutions to address the situation in both governorates."
It was noted that Saudi Arabia, in this context, had worked with the United Arab Emirates, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the Yemeni government to contain the situation. A joint military team from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates was sent to make necessary arrangements with the Southern Transitional Council in Aden, ensuring the return of the Council's forces to their previous positions outside the governorates and handing over the camps to the Shield of the Nation forces and local authorities, according to organized procedures under the supervision of coalition forces.
The statement added, "These efforts are ongoing to return the situation to what it was, and the Kingdom still relies on prioritizing the public interest by urging the Southern Transitional Council to end the escalation and withdraw its forces smoothly and urgently from the governorates."
The Saudi Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of cooperation among all Yemeni forces and components to exercise restraint and avoid anything that might undermine security and stability, which could lead to unfortunate consequences, underscoring the necessity of exerting all efforts to restore peace and communal security.
The Kingdom confirmed that the southern issue is a just cause with its historical and social dimensions, and it will be resolved by sitting all the Yemeni parties at the dialogue table within the comprehensive political solution in Yemen.
It also emphasized that Saudi Arabia supports the President, the Presidential Leadership Council, and the Yemeni government in achieving security, stability, development, and peace in the Republic of Yemen.
