In a warm academic atmosphere, with a striking attendance reflecting the spirit of belonging and integration among the various components of the university family, the Faculty of Dentistry at Petra University organized a distinguished scientific, literary, and cultural evening, sponsored by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Firas Al-Sleihat, and with active participation from the Vice Dean Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Maaytah, and the full attendance of the faculty's academic staff, a large number of deans of the university colleges and their academic bodies, in addition to students from various disciplines, filling the hall with attendees.
The evening opened with the Jordanian royal anthem, followed by fragrant recitations from the Holy Quran, then Professor Dr. Firas Al-Sleihat delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of such scientific and cultural meetings that enhance human communication, open up horizons of knowledge for the students, and establish the role of the university as a beacon of science, thought, and culture. The Dean praised the great efforts made in organizing the evening, and the distinctive role played by Vice Dean Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Maaytah in supporting the qualitative activities that serve the students and elevate the academic scene at the faculty and the university.
Vice Dean Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Maaytah also gave a speech expressing his pride in the faculty and its students, confirming that the real investment is in the mind and the individual, and that combining science, culture, and literature is the best way to build a holistic university personality. This was followed by a speech by the student Sayaf Al-Shoubaki, the president of the student union, who expressed on behalf of his fellow students their gratitude and appreciation for the faculty's management on these enriching initiatives that reflect its genuine interest in the students and developing their scientific and cultural capabilities.
This was followed by the "Think and Win" segment, which is a series of interactive competitions between teams of male and female students, with varied questions covering multiple areas of science, religion, astronomy, engineering, living organisms, history, inventions, medicines, and Arabic literature, both pre-Islamic and modern. The segment was characterized by an atmosphere of enthusiasm, enjoyment, and interaction, ending with the male student team winning over the female team, with Professor Dr. Firas Al-Sleihat and Dr. Mohammed Al-Maaytah honoring both teams (winner and loser) with valuable prizes represented by perfumes of the finest international kinds, in a gesture reflecting the paternal and supportive spirit of the faculty's management.
In a sophisticated literary side, Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Maaytah recited several poems from his poetry collection, in Classical and Nabati Arabic, in a scene that greatly impressed the attendees. In response to the students' request, Dr. Al-Maaytah spontaneously recited one of the Mu'allaqat, where he chanted Mu'allaqat Imru' al-Qais, in a majestic cultural moment that restored the true presence of Arab literature in the university hall.
The evening was topped off with a distinctive scientific lecture presented by Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Maaytah about digital and clinical beauty standards, wherein he discussed, with a modern academic style and solid scientific analysis, the subtle differences between the concepts of beauty and attractiveness, with a special focus on the beauty of the smile and teeth and the harmony of facial features, in addition to advanced topics in facial and neck beautification and restoration. The lecture combined theory and practice, keeping pace with the latest global schools and trends, enriching the attendees scientifically and intellectually, and sparking constructive interactive discussion.
Professor Dr. Firas Al-Sleihat praised the high academic level of the lecture and the comprehensive approach that combines scientific precision and the human dimension, affirming that this evening represents a model of what the Faculty of Dentistry at Petra University strives for in a balanced integration of science and culture and building a holistic university personality.
