Khaberni - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, today on Wednesday, issued a statement emphasizing the importance of maintaining national unity and protecting state institutions during the sensitive phase that the Palestinian cause is undergoing.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), Abbas said: "Commitment to the sacrifices of martyrs, prisoners, the wounded, and their families is a steadfast national and ethical commitment," warning against using these sacrifices for incitement, division, or undermining the legitimate state institutions.
Abbas confirmed that the decisions by law are issued exclusively within the constitutional powers of the president, ensuring the protection of the Palestinian political system and the continuity of the work of state institutions, and enhancing the people's resilience in facing current challenges.
He continued: "We aim to establish the rule of law, enhance the principles of good governance, transparency, and accountability," affirming "We are committed to implementing a comprehensive national reform program to develop the legal and institutional system of the State of Palestine, and the state's commitment to completing constitutional and political reform."
According to the statement, this reform program includes reviewing and updating regulations governing political, administrative, economic, and social life, primarily those related to financial governance, public administration, the judiciary, combating corruption, and enhancing the independence of supervisory institutions, ensuring performance efficiency and fairness in implementation.
He added, "We affirm our commitment to completing constitutional and political reform, including working on preparing the necessary constitutional frameworks for the organized transition from the phase of the national authority to the state phase, updating election laws, and enacting a modern law for political parties, based on clear democratic principles that ensure compliance with the political program of the Palestine Liberation Organization, international legitimacy, the principle of a two-state solution, one law, and one legitimate weapon."
