Khaberni - The selling price of a 21-karat gold gram, the most desired by citizens in the local market, on Wednesday, reached 90.20 dinars for selling purposes from jewelry shops, compared to 86.60 dinars for buying, with an increase of 40 cents per gram compared to Tuesday’s pricing.
The selling price of one gram of gold in 24, 18, and 14 karats for buying purposes from jewelry shops stood at 102.80, 79.80, and 61.30 dinars respectively.
Globally, gold surpassed the level of 4500 dollars per ounce on Wednesday for the first time ever, driven by increased demand for the safe haven and expectations of continued reduction in US interest rates next year, while silver and platinum also reached record levels.
Gold rose in spot transactions by about 0.4% to 4503.59 per ounce by 00:00 GMT, after having recorded a record high earlier at 4509.65 dollars. The US futures contracts for gold delivery in February rose 0.7% to a record level of 4540.60 dollars per ounce.
Silver increased in spot transactions by 0.5% to 71.80 dollars per ounce. Silver had recorded its highest level ever at 71.85 dollars earlier.
