Saudi Industry Launches Guideline for Intellectual Property Protection

Khaberni - The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issued a guideline for intellectual property specifically for industrial and mining establishments. This step aims to raise awareness of intellectual property rights, mechanisms for their registration, and protection. This initiative is part of the ministry's efforts to promote innovation, research and development, and to prepare a regulatory environment that preserves the rights of innovators and boosts investors' confidence in the stability of their intellectual assets.

6 cases for the registration and protection of intangible assets
The guide reviews intellectual property rights registration procedures in six main cases: patents, industrial designs, trademarks, integrated circuits, copyright, in addition to the international registration of intellectual property. These elements are central to protecting the intangible assets of establishments, and are a key enabler for growth and innovation.

A practical guide compliant with regulations
The guide serves as a comprehensive practical reference explaining the concepts of intellectual property and detailing the steps of registering them with the relevant authorities, in accordance with national systems and international standards. It also helps guide establishments in adopting effective internal policies to safeguard their intellectual rights and minimize associated legal risks.

Strategic importance for the industrial and mining sectors
The ministry emphasized that intellectual property holds special importance in the industrial and mining sectors, as it enables establishments to transform their ideas and innovative outputs into legally protected assets, enhancing their ability to enter markets, increasing the market value of their products and services, supporting the development of a reliable commercial reputation, and attracting quality investments.

The launch of this guide is part of the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources to support innovation, protect the rights of innovators, and enable the development and manufacturing of new products, enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial and mining sectors, and maximizing their contribution to diversifying the national economy, in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
