Khaberni - "Waymo" autonomous vehicles suddenly stopped while moving amid the roads, without adhering to traffic rules or even attempting to appropriately park on the side of the road, according to a report by "Bloomberg".
The report indicates that a power outage in San Francisco was the cause of this sudden stop, which also caused a fire at a substation owned by "PG&E" (Pacific Gas and Electric Company).
"Waymo" issued an alert through its app that the company's services were affected in 7 different cities, and the company's spokesman confirmed in his statement to "Bloomberg" that they are working to restore the service to the affected areas as quickly as possible.
The report also mentions an incident experienced by Michelle Riva, which he shared on social media platforms. Michelle found himself suddenly stopped in an area crowded with pedestrians, noting that he was unable to reach customer service representatives due to ongoing pressure on them.
Riva explains via his account on the platform "X" that the vehicle stopped when it reached an area congested with cars and pedestrians, where the traffic signals were out of order. He believes the vehicle stopped because it did not know how to act in such a situation.
It seems that the malfunction did not affect all autonomous vehicle services, according to a tweet by Elon Musk, CEO of "Tesla," a competitor of "Waymo" and recent entrant into the autonomous vehicle services market.
Musk shared a tweet showing the stopped vehicles, confirming that "Tesla RoboTaxi" autonomous vehicles were not affected by the power outage.
"Waymo" is owned by "Alphabet" company, which also owns various "Google" platforms, and it is among the leading participants in the autonomous vehicles sector, working to spread its services in several countries around the world.
