Khaberni - A new study shows that an eczema treatment injection, which was approved almost a year ago, provides quick relief from itching for patients suffering from this annoying skin disease.
The researchers said that the injection of nemolizumab (nemluvio) reduced itching within two days for three times the number of patients who took a placebo.

They added, "The drug also helped twice the number of eczema patients improve their sleep quality within two days."
Dr. Christophe Piketty, head of the therapeutic dermatology program at the company developing nemolizumab, said: "This new data enhances our understanding of the rapid onset of nemolizumab's effect in relieving itching, and consequently improving sleep for patients suffering from atopic dermatitis and nodular pruritus."
According to "Medical Express", the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved nemolizumab in 2024 for the treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis, known as eczema, in addition to treating the itchy bumps that often accompany eczema in a condition called nodular pruritus.
In the new study, the researchers conducted a supplemental analysis of clinical trial data that led to FDA approval of the drug. They reviewed data from trials involving nearly 2,300 people.
Treatment Results
The results showed that nemolizumab reduced itching within 48 hours in approximately 11% of patients, compared to only 3% of patients who took a placebo.
Eczema is attributed to problems in the immune system that weaken the skin's defenses against allergens and irritants.
