The global actor George Clooney bid farewell to his older sister Adelia "Ada" Zeidler, who passed away at the age of 65.
Ada passed away on Friday, December 19th, after a long battle with cancer. She died surrounded by her loved ones at St. Elizabeth’s Healthcare Hospital in Kentucky, USA. The funeral is scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, December 22nd, 2025.
George Clooney confirmed the death news on Saturday through an emotional statement, saying, "My sister Ada was my hero. She faced cancer with bravery and humor. I have never met anyone as courageous as her. My wife Amal and I will miss her deeply."
Adelia was born on May 2, 1960, in Los Angeles to her father Nick and her mother Nina and was known for her remarkable artistic talent.
She worked as an art teacher at Augusta Independent Elementary School for many years, where she shared her skills with the next generations, and her academic achievements in high school were so outstanding that they qualified her to become a National Merit Scholar.
The siblings grew up in Kentucky and shared a close relationship from an early age, playing together constantly. In an interview in 2006, their mother, Nina, recounted a funny story saying, "I came home from work one day to find George and our daughter and several friends having a party in a room at the house, they were licking one side of marshmallow candies and throwing them at each other, and when I entered, I found marshmallows stuck everywhere in the room."
Clooney previously spoke about his upbringing in a small town in Kentucky, saying in 2019: "All the misconduct towards each other that we see on the news does not exist there, they must live together. I was truly fortunate to be raised in such a small town," and he added, expressing his closeness to his sister, "I am very close to my sister."
