French President Emmanuel Macron arrives in the UAE on Sunday to spend two days of the Christmas holiday and meet a number of officials in the UAE with whom Paris hopes to enhance cooperation, especially in the field of drug control.
Macron arrives in Abu Dhabi on Sunday morning accompanied by Minister of the Armed Forces Catherine Colonna, and will meet several officials, according to the French presidency.
He is scheduled to meet the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to discuss "strengthening the strategic partnership" between the two countries, especially "in the field of security and defense".
Paris is seeking support from the UAE in combating drug trafficking.
In October, the French Ministry of Justice requested the extradition of 15 individuals wanted in drug smuggling cases from the UAE.
