Khaberni - The Australian police said today, Thursday, that they intercepted two vehicles in the city of Sydney after receiving a report indicative of a potential plan to "carry out violent action," according to Agence France-Presse.
The statement issued by the New South Wales police stated, "We responded to information about a potential planning of violent action and stopped two vehicles as part of the investigation."
The statement clarified that the police have not yet identified "any connection between this operation and the ongoing investigation into the Bondi terrorist attack."
The police stated, "As the investigations continue, there are 7 men assisting the police with their inquiries," which appears to indicate that the seven men are being questioned.
Reports indicated that units from the Australian special operations stopped the vehicles as they were passing through the "Liverpool" district in the suburbs of Sydney.
The interception of the vehicles came days after 15 people were killed in a bloody attack targeting celebrations of the Jewish community on Bondi Beach in the city of Sydney last Sunday evening, which is considered the worst mass shooting incident in Australia in almost three decades.
