Khaberni - Khaberni - Showering is an essential part of our lives, yet many people do it in a way that may harm their skin health.
Dr. Nicole Negbenebor, a dermatologist at Iowa Health Center, asserts that the secret lies in the correct way of showering and carefully selecting products.
While many prefer hot showers, Negbenebor warns that this can strip away the natural oils needed by the skin, leading to dryness and irritation. Therefore, she recommends showering for a short time with lukewarm water.
She also warns against excessive use of expensive massage products, cleansers, scrubs, and bath oils.
To ensure a healthy and effective shower, doctors have revealed five important tips:
1. Pay attention to time and temperature
Avoid staying for long periods in hot water; it removes natural oils from the skin. Shower for a short time with lukewarm water to avoid dryness and irritation.
2. Choose the right soap
Avoid strongly scented soaps and choose one suitable for sensitive skin. It is also preferable to avoid antibacterial soap unless necessary, as it may cause dryness.
3. Do not use a double wash
Using an oily wash during the shower followed by a water-based cleanser to remove the residue is unnecessary, despite its popularity among social media influencers.
4. Use oil after showering
After showering, using oil helps retain the skin's moisture, even if an oily cleanser wasn't necessary during the shower.
5. Do not over-exfoliate
Avoid excessive use of body scrubs or traditional loofahs, which can cause skin dryness or irritation. For gentle exfoliation, it is preferable to use products containing lactic acid or glycolic acid.
