Khaberni - A viral video on social media documents the moment a stolen Ferrari crashes during a violent police chase in Miami, after the car collides with a power pole with such force that it causes a power outage in several nearby buildings.
The incident occurred in the Brickell neighborhood, where a resident caught the chaos that erupted within seconds.
The video shows the Ferrari facing a police car, before it suddenly swerves and speeds off at maximum speed, and moments later crashes into a power pole, splitting it into two, while the body of the luxury car is torn apart by the impact.
The wrecked Ferrari stopped close to the crash site, at which time a strong electric flash lit the street, and sparks scattered in all directions.
The footage later showed a police car arriving at the site, where an officer cautiously exited and approached the wrecked car, while several other patrols arrived to cordon off the area.
According to Miami police, the incident began after a woman reported her Ferrari stolen, with authorities able to track its location at the intersection of SW 2nd Avenue and 17th Street. The police confirmed that they spotted someone driving the car and taking off, and when they attempted to stop him, he refused to comply with stop orders and attempted to flee.
During the escape attempt, the driver lost control of the car, first colliding with a police car, before hitting the power pole, causing an electricity outage in the area, turning a quiet street in Brickell into a scene of wreckage and warning lights.
Police reported that the 28-year-old driver fled on foot after the accident and disappeared into a nearby residential area, before authorities were able to locate and apprehend him. He was first taken to the hospital to receive treatment for an injury sustained during the incident.
After being discharged from medical care, he was officially detained and charged with multiple offenses, including "theft," "fleeing from police," "leaving the scene of an accident," and "reckless driving."
The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with video recordings being reviewed to further understand the circumstances of the chase that ended in this devastating accident.
