Can Reheating Rice Expose You to Poisoning

Khaberni - Leftover rice from daily meals is a common sight in kitchens, often reheated the next day without much thought.

Despite its fragrant smell and good appearance, experts warn of health risks that may arise from improper storage or reheating.

Dr. Amy Shah warns that any mishandling of cooked rice can lead to food poisoning and intestinal infections.

She explained in a post on "Instagram" that leaving cooked rice at room temperature for long periods creates a fertile environment for the growth of harmful bacteria.

Shah explained that cooling rice after cooking can be beneficial, as part of the starch turns into resistant starch that supports gut health and improves blood sugar response.

However, she emphasized that the biggest mistake is leaving rice uncovered outside all day.

Basic Rules to Avoid Risks

According to Dr. Shah, simple steps should be followed to protect your health when handling rice:

Cool rice quickly after cooking

Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator

Avoid reheating it more than once

Shah said: "These simple measures protect you from food poisoning and ensure that you can safely enjoy your rice."
