The Executive Director of the Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman mentioned that the color PANTONE 11-4201 has become a symbol of a clean canvas that opens new horizons. She emphasized that this shade represents the concept of clarity, especially in a world filled with distractions, and embodies the idea of simplification and aiding focus by eliminating the excess.
Additionally, the Vice President of the Institute, Laurie Pressman, added that the new color conveys a sense of simplicity and mental comfort, allowing people a chance to step back and think clearly.
Experts believe that the acceleration of the world post-COVID-19, with remote work and digital noise and an abundance of technology, has led many to search for themselves and try to plan for the future. In this context, the white color close to "Cloud Dancer" symbolizes a new beginning, like a blank page waiting to be written on.
Pantone has been selecting the color of the year since 2000. For example, the color of the year 2025 was 17-1230 "Mocha Mousse", while the color selected in 2024 was 3-1023 "Peach Fuzz".
Scientifically, Sergey Kharintsev, Head of the Department of Optics and Nanophotonics at the Kazan Federal University Institute of Physics, explains that white light is described by a color temperature in kelvin (K), which corresponds to the spectrum of radiation from an absolute black body at a certain temperature. In this condition, the spectrum of the source is very close to natural daylight, without noticeable deviation towards warm or cool shades. The peak of the spectrum, like the sun, is in the green-yellow area, making it perceived by the human eye as a natural white color.
