Khaberni - Samsung Electronics has announced the inclusion of the Porsche digital key within the ‘Samsung Wallet’ app, starting with the 2026 Macan model and set to include other models next year such as the electric Cayenne. Users can now lock, unlock, and start their Porsche vehicles using a compatible ‘Galaxy’ phone without needing the car’s physical key.
With ‘Samsung Wallet’, Porsche car owners will have a seamless and secure access to their vehicles through a single interface. With a simple upward swipe, they will see a comprehensive display that includes their ID cards, payment methods, and digital keys all in one place, allowing them to manage all their essential needs easily without having to switch between multiple apps.
Commenting on this matter, the Executive Vice President and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics, Wontchul Chai, said: "We are pleased to provide ‘Galaxy’ users with a more integrated digital experience through our collaboration with Porsche. The connection between smartphones and vehicles via digital keys embodies the seamless convenience that Samsung always strives to provide."
Furthermore, Jörg Kerner, Vice President of the Macan Production Line at Porsche, added: "For the first time at Porsche, we are introducing a digital key in our latest electric models, the Macan and Cayenne, in a move that reflects our direction towards enhancing the smart driving experience. Through our partnership with Samsung, we will offer a more integrated experience that combines innovation with ease of use, elevating luxurious driving standards to a new level."
Porsche's digital keys on ‘Galaxy’ devices supporting the ‘Samsung Wallet Digital Key’ feature are protected by an EAL6+ security certificate, ensuring that keys are securely stored within the device and protected from unauthorized access attempts. Users can also share their digital key wirelessly with trusted people via ‘Samsung Wallet’, with the ability to grant or revoke access at any time with simple steps.
To prevent any unauthorized access, the digital keys rely on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies, in accordance with standards set by the CCC and FiRa Consortiums.
In case of device loss or theft, users can remotely lock or delete the digital key via the ‘Samsung Find’ service. Additionally, fingerprint authentication or a PIN code in ‘Samsung Wallet’ adds an extra layer of protection supported by the ‘Samsung Knox’ defense security system.
Setting up the digital key for Porsche vehicles and adding it to ‘Samsung Wallet’ is straightforward, requiring simply the installation of the ‘My Porsche’ app and linking the vehicle to the account, followed by following the instructions to add the key and enjoy secure and easy access via the phone.
