The Impact of Food on Sleep Quality

Khaberni - Khaberni - A recent scientific study revealed that the food a person consumes daily directly affects sleep quality.

The magazine Frontiers in Nutrition pointed out that the study conducted by scientists from George Mason University showed that our way of eating and what we eat can directly affect our sleep quality. It revealed a relationship between blood sugar levels, dietary type, and sleep quality whether among diabetics or non-diabetics.

The study results showed that diabetes and prediabetes patients are more prone to insomnia and sleep disorders, and not getting enough rest. Moreover, strict diet control and blood sugar levels, unexpectedly, were linked to reduced sleep quality, highlighting the complex role of metabolic processes and diet composition.

Researchers found that low-protein, high-fat diets are the most harmful to sleep, consistently linked to deteriorating quality. Conversely, a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet helps reduce the risk of very short sleep periods, both among diabetics and people with normal blood glucose levels.

The researchers emphasize that improving sleep requires not just daily routines but also dietary habits and the metabolic state of carbohydrates. Diet can be an overlooked factor in sleep health.
