A Port in Egypt Earns a Guinness Certificate Whats Its Story

Khaberni - In a new achievement added to the record of Egyptian ports, Kamel El-Wazir, the Minister of Industry and Transportation in Egypt, received a Guinness World Records certificate for the Ain Sokhna Port, after it was officially recorded as the deepest man-made harbor basin on land with a depth of 19 meters.

According to local media documentation, the minister received the certificate from the official Guinness judge, Kanzy El-Defrawi, after a thorough review of all technical records and verification that all international standards had been met.

The minister expressed his great happiness with this achievement, confirming that it reflects the significant development that Egypt is witnessing in various sectors, especially the maritime transport sector, and dedicated this success to President Sisi and the Egyptian people. He emphasized that political will and constant follow-up from the political leadership were decisive factors in achieving this record. A global achievement for Egyptian ports... He explained that the achievement at Ain Sokhna Port was accomplished entirely by Egyptian hands, with the participation of more than 200 national companies, reflecting the efficiency and skill of Egyptian engineers and workers and their ability to execute massive projects to international standards both within and outside Egypt.

The minister also mentioned that the development of Ain Sokhna Port is part of a comprehensive plan carried out by the state to transform it into a global hub port on the Red Sea, benefiting from Egypt’s unique geographical location and the presence of the Suez Canal, with the aim of enhancing the movement of exports and imports, supporting Egypt's position on the global trade map, and achieving its strategic goal of becoming a regional center for transportation, logistics, and transit trade.

For her part, Kanzy El-Defrawi expressed her pride in being present at Ain Sokhna Port, affirming that the Guinness team had thoroughly reviewed all evidence and records, and that the port had adhered to all guidelines and requirements, officially registering the global record with a depth of 19 meters and thus becoming the new title holder of the deepest man-made harbor basin on land.
