Ali Alwan: A provoking situation increased our desire to win against Saudi Arabia
Ali Alwan, striker of the Jordan national team, revealed that a provoking situation he and his teammates experienced while leaving the hotel to head to the stadium motivated them to make extraordinary efforts against Saudi Arabia, achieving victory and qualifying for the final as a form of response.
Alwan said, "I don't want to mention this fan, but we heard him implying that we would lose the match, that the Jordanian team suffered from absences, and that the Saudi team had the stars and was more capable of winning and reaching the final. This talk provoked us a lot, and I entered the field with his words echoing in my ears, wanting to respond to him on the pitch."
Alwan added, "We proved to everyone that the Jordanian national team, with those who attended, and all the players were men and stars on the field. After reaching the final of the Asian Cup for the first time, here continues the journey of achievements by reaching the Arab Cup for the first time, as we continue to write new history."
Alwan concluded his speech, "We thank our fans who supported us on the field, and they also played a role in the effort we put in. The match was not difficult at all, but in the end, we achieved what we aspired to."
** Top scorer of the tournament
Alwan leads the scorers' list of the Arab Cup with 4 goals, all coming from penalty kicks, and he recently received several professional offers from Korean clubs alongside Al Ahly of Egypt.
Alwan played against Saudi Arabia as a sole striker, filling in for his teammate Yazan Al Naimat who missed the match due to a ligament tear sustained in the previous match against Iraq.
