The King holds talks with the Indian Prime Minister at Al Husseiniya Palace

Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Al Husseiniya Palace on Monday, focusing on the mechanisms for expanding cooperation between Jordan and India.

His Majesty welcomed the visit of the Indian Prime Minister to the Kingdom at the beginning of the expanded talks, which represent an important opportunity to chart new paths for economic cooperation in various areas such as industry and information technology, to the benefit of both peoples.

His Majesty the King, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, emphasized that the two countries enjoy a strong partnership that spans over 75 years, pointing out the importance of the cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding that will be exchanged on the sidelines of the visit.

His Majesty described the Jordanian-Indian Business Forum, scheduled to be held in Amman tomorrow Tuesday, as an opportunity to discuss the development of trade cooperation, encourage investment, and build stronger partnerships between the two countries in vital areas.

For his part, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to His Majesty for the hospitality, saying, "On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I express our sincere gratitude for your warm welcome of me and my delegation. You have expressed a positive desire to elevate the relations between India and Jordan to a new level."

He added that his visit would contribute to deepening relations between the two countries, reaffirming the commitment to continue enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, fertilizers, digital technology, and infrastructure.

Modi praised the role of His Majesty at the regional level, especially his positive efforts related to the developments in the Gaza Strip, asserting the necessity of achieving peace and stability in the region.

The discussions addressed regional developments and efforts made to restore stability in the region and respect for the sovereignty of states.

The need to enhance humanitarian response in Gaza and ensure the implementation of the agreement to end the war was emphasized.

On the sidelines of the visit, the governments of Jordan and India will sign tomorrow, Tuesday, two memoranda of understanding on renewable energy and water resource management, a cultural exchange program, a letter of intent regarding cooperation in the field of digital transformation, and a twinning agreement between the city of Petra and the Ellora Caves site in India.

The talks were attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, the Director of His Majesty's Office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Engineer Yarub Qudah, the Head of the Honorary Mission accompanying the guest, and the Indian Ambassador to Jordan Manish Prabhat, along with the accompanying delegation.
