Khaberni - The Ministry of Local Administration reviewed reports from the Meteorological Department and incoming weather maps under the early warning system agreement, indicating that some areas of the kingdom are affected by a weather depression on Monday. It is expected to be accompanied by thunder showers that may lead to the flow of streams and the occurrence of floods, necessitating increased preparedness levels in a number of areas under the municipalities of Karak and Tafilah governorates.
The weather maps showed that the risk level would be high in the municipalities of: Greater Karak, Shihan, Mutah and Al-Mazar, Greater Tafilah, Buseira, Qadisiyah, and pointed out that there are specific sites where the risk level appears low, as indicated on the maps in green.
The ministry confirmed that it had distributed the new maps to the heads of municipal committees, directors of municipal affairs, and heads of joint service councils, calling for field monitoring of critical sites, and ensuring the readiness of valleys, flood channels, channels, box culverts, pipe culverts, and storm water drains.
The ministry called on citizens in the areas indicated in yellow to take precaution and be vigilant, avoid flood paths and valleys, refrain from crossing roads at risk of flooding, and follow the guidelines issued by competent authorities to ensure public safety.
