Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday the execution of a "qualitative and decisive" security operation in the city of Palmyra, following the cowardly terrorist attack executed by a member of the "ISIS" terrorist group on Saturday, which targeted the headquarters of a meeting for the internal security leadership in the Syrian desert area, with the participation of an official delegation from the international coalition.
The previous attack resulted in casualties and injuries among the attendees.
The ministry confirmed in its statement that this operation was coordinated fully with the Syrian General Intelligence Directorate and the international coalition forces, and was carried out based on precise and prior intelligence information.
The security operation resulted in the arrest of five persons suspected of involvement in planning, executing, or facilitating the attack, and they were immediately interrogated by the relevant authorities.
The Syrian Ministry of Interior emphasized that targeting state institutions will not pass without a firm response, affirming that the Syrian security forces possess full readiness and high capability to strike "with an iron fist" against anyone attempting to threaten the country's security and stability.
The ministry concluded its statement by reaffirming its continual commitment to pursuing terrorist organizations wherever they are found on Syrian territory to ensure the safety of citizens and institutions.
