The case of Shamousa on the deputies table today

Khaberni - Khaberni - The Parliamentary Committee on Energy and Mineral Wealth, Sunday, discusses the issue of unsafe heaters and suffocation incidents that have recently occurred.

The Standards and Metrology Organization confirmed that it blocked three local heater manufacturers from selling heaters in the local market, pending the results of the technical inspections conducted by the Royal Scientific Society on samples, following incidents of suffocation and the death of several individuals. Quantities present have also been seized.

The organization stated, in collaboration with the General Security Directorate, they have seized more than 5,000 heaters of this type until Saturday evening and dispatched several samples for examination to the Royal Scientific Society, noting that these heaters have been on the local market for years, produced locally, and no quantities are imported.

It added that such items, due to their sensitivities, undergo strict regulatory processes before and after being introduced into the local market to ensure public safety and there is no tolerance whatsoever with any standard violations regardless of their nature.

The media spokesperson for the General Security Directorate had stated that they precautionarily seized 5,000 heaters within the factories that manufacture them, in addition to banning their sale in commercial stores.

He added that all the samples of heaters taken from factories, stores, and homes of people who suffered from suffocation were sent to the Royal Scientific Society for testing and to ascertain the causes of death.

The spokesperson emphasized the necessity for everyone not to use any type of gas heaters, produced by several factories, under any circumstances until the technical reports are issued by the relevant authorities.
