Sharp increase in the number of cases Flu wave hits English hospitals

Khaberni - Hospitals in England are experiencing increasing pressure after a sharp rise in flu cases, where the NHS has announced that the number of patients infected with the virus has increased by more than 50 percent over the past week.
According to a report by the BBC, the average number of cases hospitalized until last Sunday was 2,660 cases daily, while the National Health Service confirms that numbers continue to rise this week, amid fears of exceeding the 5,000 case mark by the weekend.
These numbers represent the equivalent of filling three entire hospitals with flu patients, with the bed occupancy rate by virus patients in some hospitals reaching about one bed for every ten.
Increases continue across the entire United Kingdom; in Scotland, confirmed cases have risen by about a quarter within a single week, while hospital admissions have increased by 15 percent.
The same scenario repeats in Wales and Northern Ireland, where reports indicate that children and adolescents are the most affected, forcing some schools to reimplement measures similar to those used during the coronavirus pandemic.
In England, government data show that the highest rates of infection were among children aged 5 to 14, but the highest hospital admission rates were recorded in the age group above 75 years and among children under the age of five.
